Die Trilogie heißt "It's What I'm Thinking".

Schneeflocken fotografieren.

Aus den fallenden Schneeflocken des ersten Albums kristallisiert sich ein weiteres Bild: das eines Badly Drawn Boy, der mit dem Erwachsensein klarkommt – "Throw me to the lions, make me a man" singt er in "The Order Of Things" und "All I ask is you treat me like a man" auf "You Lied". Und es scheint auch eine Zeit der Reflektion und des Neubewertens gekommen zu sein: "Well for a while I thought it was amazing, and I still think you're the one", singt er auf "A Pure Accident". "I know you will forgive me, for the things that I've done wrong, I'm sorry I never liked your favourite song."

Badly Drawn Boy hat bis jetzt vier Studioalben veröffentlicht – den Mercury-Gewinner "The Hour of the Bewilderbeast" (2000), "Have You Fed The Fish?" (2002), "One Plus One Is One" (2004) und "Born In The UK" (2006). Außerdem zwei Filmsoundtracks, für die Nick Hornby-Verfilmung "About A Boy" (2002) und "Is There Nothing We Could Do?" (2009, für den Caroline Aherne Film "The Fattest Man In Britain").

IT'S WHAT I'M THINKING PT.1 - PHOTOGRAPHING SNOWFLAKES
Track by track by Damon Gough – in his won words:

  1. In Safe Hands: “It’s based on a relationship ending. People always think the songs are about me, but they’re not always, they’re often about other people.”
  2. The Order of Things: “I really love this song. It typifies my writing, it’s unconventional and follows a cyclical melody like Once Around The Block did.”
  3. Too Many Miracles: “It’s kind of a sister song to All Possibilities, about me being so lucky that so many good things are happening in my life. It was more guitar driven like The Byrds at first, then we put strings on it and it went in more of a Spector direction.”
  4. What Tomorrow Brings: “It’s probably the most simple, classic song I’ve ever written. I can even see Susan Boyle or Andrea Bocelli singing it, or it being our Eurovision entry”
  5. I Saw You Walk Away: “This is a key song for me, I think it’s the best song I’ve ever written. It reminds me a bit of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, although that is the best Smiths song, so I’m bigging myself up a bit there.”
  6. It’s What I’m Thinking: “I wanted the title track to be long and rambling, to emphasise, as the lyric says, ‘I know it’s isn’t much, but it’s what I’m thinking’.”
  7. You Lied: “I wrote this at home and recorded a demo on my iPhone. It’s so simple really, but ended up a bit Fleetwood Mac when I added the harmonies.”
  8. A Pure Accident: “I wrote the basis of this on the same day as 'You Lied'. It’s about people’s struggles with relationships, how they’re too busy looking at other options to commit.”
  9. This Electric: “Probably the oldest song of mine I’ve ever recorded. I wrote it in ’94 and it reminds me of listening to bands like Flaming Lips and Beck. It’s almost my take on hip-hop - not rapping, but an attitude. The riff is similar to Cause A Rockslide on my debut.”
  10. This Beautiful Ideas: “One of those songs that came almost fully formed. It’s a song about confusion really, and it’s got the line ‘Madonna singing Borderline’ which is the second time I’ve referenced Madonna in lyrics.”
