The duo known as Phace have their roots in the very early days of German drum and bass history. Teaming up for music production at the turn of the millennium created the perfect channel for Florian and Nicolas to express their creative and musically obsessed minds. Aiming to create a new fusion of sounds and grooves they try to pair cold mathematical structures with slightly random and somewhat disturbing sounds. When you combine these elements, and then wrap them with a warm robe of distortion, you will get a quite good example of their trademark style. They have successfully developed a unique sound, characterized by combining cutting edge funk and tech related elements, and by doing so, have stormed into the international scene focusing on their mission to spread deep and futuristic music. Considered creators of "disturbing funk", their music is in fact a style that is hard to pin down with words.

Being picked up from Subtitles Recordings mastermind Teebee in 2004 propelled the recognition of Phace. His belief in their music, combined with his strong support motivated them to put 100% effort into their production. Their first release, "Brainwave/Polymers" (Subtitles 040) got heavy rotation from some of the scene's biggest names such as Ed Rush, Optical, Matrix, Teebee, Calyx, and Noisia. With the success of this release, it was clear to them that the time had come to further develop and shape their sound. The bond between them and Subtitles strengthened, leading to more releases in 2005, including an EP entitled "Now & Tomorrow" (Subtitles 045) and another sick slice of funk, "Hot Rock/Moore's Law" (Subtitles 047). Aside from Subtitles, they also released "Dead Air" (a collaboration with Noisia and Cause for Concern) on the sampler for Renegade Hardware's "Guerilla Warfare" LP. Another track on this label, "Lost" was featured on the 2006 "Carpe Diem" LP. Apart from these labels, Phace have also released tracks on Citrus, Full Force and Syndrome Recordings. The success of all these releases and having just being signed to the mighty Virus Recordings for another collaboration with Noisia entitled "Unveil" (Virus 017), has pushed the production duo to the front of the scene. Locally, they gained further recognition in 2005 by being voted "best national producers" and "second best national DJ" at Germany's 'Future Music DnB Awards'.

As well as continuing to build their rigorous worldwide touring schedule, Phace have completed their debut LP for Subtitles entitled "Psycho". With global anticipation of this album's release and the plethora of shows lined up for early 2007 it looks like Phace could well be the name to watch.
