When it comes to DJ “selectors” they don’t come any better than Philadelphia’s Rich Medina & New York’s Bobbito.
Sure, many DJs specialise in one genre or another, but only a select few can move between styles and genres, be it soul, jazz, latin, house, hip-hop or afro. Rich & Bob came up at a time when such divisions didn’t even exist, playing music because it was good rather than because it fit into a genre. This open minded attitude to music brought them together and they subsequently ran several successful parties such as “Happy Feet” & “Leaving This Planet”, both of which still run strong.
Having DJed together for years at such classic new york parties, good friends Rich n Bob have finally brought together their special chemistry on their first ever joint compilation! “The Connection” is just that; a double cd exploring the connections between afro-beat and afro-latin influences in modern dance music from Afro-funk to Latin House via Hip-hop, soul and Jazz.
Our definition of a “selector” is a DJ that inspires by playing something you might have forgotten about, or even better, a DJ that makes you dance to something you’ve never even heard before. This double CD has 2 selectors and a bunch of tracks you may not have known before but will be sure glad you do now.
